TdfsExtListView & TdfsEnhListView v3.72

Description:
  TdfsEnhListView is a list view control that provides enhanced functionality
    such as:
      * Automatic sorting of text, numeric, and date columns
      * Ability to automatically save and restore user column width settings
      * Owner drawing events
    This functionality does NOT require the updated COMCTL32.DLL from Microsoft.

  TdfsExtListView is a list view control that provides all functionality of
    TdfsEnhListView, plus provides access to the new features of the list view
    control found with MS Internet Explorer 4.0, et. al.  This functionality
    DOES require the updated COMCTL32.DLL from Microsoft.  The COMCTL32.DLL file
    must be version 4.72.xxx or later for all functionality in this component
    to work.  Earlier versions *may* work, but are not supported (i.e. don't
    email me if you aren't using the latest version of COMCTL32.DLL).


Installation:
  Delphi 1:
    * This component is not compatible with Delphi 1.

  Delphi 2, C++Builder 1:
    * Select the 'Component | Install' menu item.
    * In the Install Components dialog, click the Add button.
    * In the Add Module dialog, enter the full path name of the component's
      registration unit (the unit that ends with 'Reg.pas', i.e.
      'BrowseDrReg.pas') and click OK.
    * In the Add Module dialog, click OK.
    * The component library will be rebuilt and a new tab named 'DFS' will be
      available on the Component Palette.

  Delphi 3, 4, 5, C++Builder 3 & 4:
    * Do one of the following:
      + Create a new package by selecting File | New and choosing Package from
        the New tab in the dialog.
      + Open an existing package file.  I suggest you do this if you already 
        have a package that you like to use for small, third party components.
        I specifically have a package named "3rdParty.dpk" that I use for 
        small components that come from other people.  Or, if you are using
        several of my components, you might create a "DFS.dpk" package and 
        use it for all of my DFS components.
    * In the resulting package window, click the Add button.
    * In the Add dialog, on the Add Unit tab, enter the full path name of the 
      component's registration unit (the unit that ends with 'Reg.pas', i.e. 
      'BrowseDrReg.pas') and click OK.
    * You may want to add the other source files (*.pas) to the package as 
      well in the same manner as you did the registration unit.  While this is
      not required, not doing it will cause compiler warnings when the package
      is compiled.  The component will function fine either way, but I
      personally find the warnings very irritating and am not happy until 
      every compiler warning and hint is gone.  NOTE:  If you use C++Builder 3,
      do not install the other source units.  See Known Issuses section below.
    * If this package is new, or it has never been installed, click the 
      Install button in the package window.  If this package is already 
      installed in Delphi, click the Compile button.

  C++Builder 5 and up:
    * Perform the "Delphi 3 and up, C++Builder 3 and up" steps above, except
      for the last step (Compile or Install).
    * Select the package the component has been added to, and choose 
      Project | Edit Option Source to open the package options in the editor.
    * In the entry for PFLAGS, add the "-LUvcl50" option.  For example:
        <PFLAGS value="-$YD -$W -$O -v -JPHNE -M -LUvcl50"/>
    * Perform the final step from above, Compile or Install.
    * For Borland's official word on this situation, open the C++Builder help
      file and search the index for "dsgnintf.dcu" and see the "Compiling
      packages with DsgnIntf" section.

  Delphi 6 and up:
    * Perform the "Delphi 3, 4, 5, C++Builder 3 & 4" steps above, except
      for the last step (Compile or Install).
    * Add the DesignIDE package to the Requires list of the package into which
      the component is being installed.
    * Perform the final step from above, Compile or Install.
    * This is necessary because of changes to the design-time support units
      introduced in Delphi 6.  For complete information, see the Del6New.hlp
      file in your Delphi 6 Help directory.  In the index, search for
      "upgrade issues" and in the resulting list of topics, select the
      "DsgnIntf renamed and related changes" topic.

  Help File:
    Delphi 3:
      * Copy ELV.hlp and ELV.cnt to your Delphi\Help directory.
      * Edit the DELPHI3.CNT file and add the following line to the Index section:
          :Index Extended List View Reference =ELV.hlp
      * Delete the hidden Delphi3.Gid file.

    Delphi 2:
      * Copy ELV.hlp, ELV.kwf and ELV.cnt to your Delphi\Help directory.
      * Use the HelpInst tool included with Delphi to install the ELV.Kwf
        into Delphi\Bin\Delphi.Hdx file.


Redistributing COMCTL32.DLL:
  Microsoft used to have a really nasty redistribution policy about
  COMCTL32.DLL:  To redistribute it, you have to distribute Internet Explorer
  with your app.  Well, they've finally unpuckered a little bit (probably
  because enough people griped long and loud enough (like Ron Burk in his
  Windows Developer's Journal editorials and mail responses, THANKS RON!).

Notes & Credits:
  * This component uses several types defined in the COMMCTRL unit when it can.
    If you add an event handler and then receive a compiler error about an
    unknown type, you likely need to add COMMCTRL to your unit's uses clause.

    and is redistributed here by permission of John Newln.  I have made only
    small modifications for compatibility with the new 3.00 version.
  * The owner drawn header stuff is based on work sent to me by Rafal Smotrzyk
    <rsmotrzyk@mikroplan.com.pl>.  Many thanks to him.  He has included many
    other new features, but I got it at the time when I was trying to get this
    version out of beta. Because of that, I'm not incorporating the rest until
    after v3.00 is released as non-beta.  I'll then work his stuff into the next
    version.
  * The owner drawing and column images were originally implemented by Remi
    Sellem (RemiS@chemware.co.uk) and Mike Lindre (no address).  I only
    reworked them a little, integrated them into this component, and made a
    few changes to use the new Delphi 3 collection editor for ColumnsFormat and
    fixed a few bugs.  The original property editor (ExtColEd.pas) for this is
    provided for Delphi 2 users, but is not required at all for Delphi 3 usage.
  * There are some serious limitations that I did not realize when I first
    released the virtual mode feature.  If you are not using virtual mode
    (VirtualMode set to TRUE) then you need not be concerned.  These problems
    only affect virutal mode.  The problem is that since items are not stored
    by the list view, but rather provided as needed by an event handler, the
    Items property does not reflect the actual items in the list.  In fact,
    it is always empty.  Items.Count will return the proper number of items,
    but anything trying to use Items[x] will never get any valid data.  This
    affects several things, such as automatic drag and drop (DragMode =
    dmAutomatic), the Selected property and more.  This is because the
    implementation of TListView uses the Items property extensively.  I have
    tried to provide for this as best I can through methods like
    TdfsExtListView.ELV_GetNextItem that can be used in place of critical
    functions that no longer work because they rely on the Items property.  I
    suggest that you NOT use virtual mode unless you completely understand all
    of the issues that may arise from using it.
    UPDATE:  As of v3.60, this issue should be resolved if you use Delphi or
    C++Builder versions 4.0 or higher.  Previous versions still have the same
    limitations.


Known Issues:
  * OnGetImageIndex can give very strange results if you don't know how to use
    it.  If there is an index already assigned to the item, you should not
    change it here.  This will result in the index being asked for again, and
    that could lead to an infinite loop (albeit one where messages are still
    being processed, so you aren't locked up) where all the items just get
    painted over and over.  Instead, the intended use is to delay assigning an
    image index to the item until it is really needed (the item becomes visible
    in the list, i.e. the user scrolls down and some new items become visible).
    This can speed things up when you are dealing with large lists, and/or when
    the process of getting the image index is time consuming (getting the system
    image index of a file type, for example).  So, when a new item is created,
    you simply assign -1 to it's ImageIndex and then when the item becomes
    visible, the OnGetImageIndex event is fired and you provide the real index:
      if Item.ImageIndex = -1 then
        Item.ImageIndex := CalculateRealImageIndex;
  * When using the NoColumnResize property, the area right next to a column
    divider can not be clicked on (and have it do anything).  This area is
    where Windows would normal turn the cursor into the splitter cursor and
    start the resizing process.  You can't use it to click since clicking there
    didn't do anything before except start the resize process.  We don't allow
    that, so nothing happens.  No way I can figure to get Windows to think it's
    in a normal clicking region.  I guarantee you'll hear about this from your
    users.  :(
  * C++Builder 3 users:  You must install only the registration unit 
    (ELV_Reg.pas) into the package you compile the component into.  If the 
    package also includes the other source files, you will get error messages
    about DCLSTD35.LIB, which doesn't exist.  It has to do with the fact that
    the source lists ImgList in the uses clause, even though I have properly 
    $IFDEFed it out.  Must be some error in the C3 parser that is causing it to
    see this unit, and in C3 this unit is some design-time unit or something.
    It results in the IDE continuously inserting DCLSTD35.LIB into the project
    file, and there's no such file.  Manually removing it from the project 
    does not help, it just sticks it back in.  The only way to get it to stop
    is to manually edit the code and remove the reference to ImgList, or to not
    include the source file in the package.  Bizarre.
  * Default owner drawing will not work when running on a NT 3.51 system.  I
    use DrawTextEx() to do the drawing, and that function is only a stub in
    NT 3.51.  I use DrawTextEx because I need the DT_END_ELLIPSIS flag.  My
    best suggestion at this point is to not use default drawing if your app
    needs to run on an NT 3.51 machine, i.e. draw it yourself in OnDrawItem or
    OnDrawSubItem.
  * Default owner drawing will not work with virtual mode.  By definition, data
    is not stored in the control when virtual mode is enabled.  So, there is no
    way the control can know what to paint for you in owner draw mode.  Owner
    drawing will work correctly, but you have to do the drawing via the
    OnDrawItem and/or OnDrawSubItem events.
  * Default owner drawing will not work with with re-ordered headers
    (ExtendedStyle contains lvxHeaderDragDrop).
  * If you have both an OnDrawItem and an OnDrawSubItem event handler when in
    VirtualMode, you will have to set DefaultDrawing to TRUE in the OnDrawItem
    handler to get the OnDrawSubItem event to fire.
  * Changing column information (ColumnsFormat property) screws up the header
    image stuff.  For example, if you have set up the ColumnsFormat such that
    you have images appearing in your column headers and then you change the
    alignment of one of the TListColumns (an item of the Columns property), the
    header image will  disappear.  I could catch this if Borland would have been
    a little more liberal with their virtual/dynamic declarations, but the one
    I need isn't declared that way, so I can't override it.  Instead, you will
    just have to be aware of the situation and manually refresh it yourself.
    Example:

      // Change column 3's text alignment.
      ExtListView.Columns[2].Alignment := taRightJustify;
      // Screwed up header image, refresh it
      ExtListView.UpdateColumnImage(2);

    If you need to refresh all of the column images, just use
    UpdateColumnsImages.
  * Changing order of a list item when lvxCheckboxes style is set causes
    incorrect painting and/or loss of the check state.  This appears to be a
    problem in either the COMCTL32.DLL implementation or the handling of moving
    items around in the TListView implementation, or both.  Either way, there's
    not much I can do about it.
  * Setting a subitem image (lvxSubItemImages ExtendStyle) to -1 does not
    properly clear the image for the subitem.  The current COMCTL32.DLL
    implementation does not seem to store this value and instead it gets a
    random value assigned to it.  The work-around that I have found is to set
    the index to a value that does not exist in the image list.  To make this
    a bit easier, I have declared a constant named ELV_NO_SUBITEM_IMAGE that
    is equal to MaxInt-1 (MaxInt seems to suffer the same problem as -1).  This
    will work fine as long as your image list does not have more than
    2,147,483,646 images in it.  :)
  * OnVMStateChanged event does not fire as documented by Microsoft for virtual
    mode list views.  It appears to only fire when a range of items changes,
    and even that appears sporadic in my informal testing.  Sorry, I didn't
    write COMCTL32.DLL, so I can't fix it.  On the bright side, OnChange still
    fires.  On the dark side, it passes a TListItem which is always NIL in
    virtual mode.
    Update:  H.D.Berretz reports that if you hold the shift key down and click
    on an item, this event will fire.
    I have no idea how that would be useful, you'll have to ask Microsoft.
  * lvxCheckboxes extended style does not work with virtual mode.  Seems to be
    a limitation of virtual mode as implemented by Microsoft in COMCTL32.DLL.
  * Adding a column to a TdfsExtListView component at run-time seems to cause
    an EAccessViolation if you do it in the owning form's OnCreate event handler
    sometimes.  I have found that this can be worked around by moving the code
    that creates the column into the OnShow handler.  Your mileage may vary.
  * The new multiple work areas and region stuff introduced in the 4.71.xxx
    version of COMCTL32.DLL is not supported yet.
  * NMITEMACTIVATE structure introduced in the IE 4 version of COMCTL32.DLL
    is not supported yet.
  * I tried adding stuff for the background image, but it doesn't seem to work.
    If you want to fool with it, enable the DFS_TRY_BACKGROUND_IMAGE define at
    the top of ExtListView.pas.  Let me know if you have any luck.

3.70:  + Fixed problem with using an image list for SmallImages property where
         the image list is on a different form than the form the list view is on.
       + Deleting the image list assigned to SmallImages would not clear the
         SmallImages property.  Fixed.  Thanks to Norbert Adamko for both of
         these fixes.
       + State images wouldn't work at all with virtual mode.  This has been
         fixed.  Further, if you didn't know a great deal about the API calls
         involved, it was very hard to use the state and overlay images with
         virtual mode.  This has been addressed by adding two var parameters,
         OverlayImage and StateImage, to the OnVMGetItemInfo event.
         Unfortunately, this means you will have to reset any OnVMGetItemInfo
         event handlers you have in existing code.  Just cut the code you have
         to the clipboard, remove the event handler, re-add the handler and
         paste the code back in.
       + Added new ExtendedSytle option, lvxInfoTip.  This flag causes
         partially hidden captions to be displayed in a hint-type window.  It
         is enabled by default.  Also, related to this, there is a new event
         called OnInfoTip.  This allows you to change the text that will be
         displayed in the hint-type window, OR (not both) allows you to specify
         additional text to be displayed in a hint window below the item when
         the mouse is over the item.  Also, the SubItemIndex parameter is for
         future use only.  Currently, Windows passes this parameter but does
         not use it for anything and it is always 0.  I have included it in
         anticipation of Windows actually using the parameter some day.
       + Added new ExtendedStyle option, lvxLabelTip.  If a partially hidden
         label in any list view mode lacks tooltip text, the list view control
         will unfold the label. If this style is not set, the list view control
         will unfold partly hidden labels only for the large icon mode.  This
         style requires v5.80 or higher of ComCtl32.dll.
3.62:  + Saving the view style (SaveSettings.SaveViewStyle) did not work in
         TdfsExtListView, only TdfsEnhListView.
       + Added OnItemChecked event to TdfsExtListView.  This event fires when
         an item's checked state changes.  I pass the item index rather than the
         TListItem so that users of virtual mode can use it (since all
         TListItems would be NIL in that case).  I found this code in The Delphi
         Magazine, Issue 55, March 2000.  Although a bit pricey, I highly
         recommend this magazine (http://www.thedelphimagazine.com/).
3.61:  + Updated information about the DCLSTD35.LIB Known Issue in C3.  See
         above.
       + The TRect parameter passed in the OnDrawSubItem event was incorrectly
         shifted to the left by the amount in DefDraw_TextOffset value (4 by
         default).  This has been corrected and now only the actual default
         text drawing uses this value.
       + Added new event to TdfsExtListView, OnVMCaptionEdited.  This event fires
         after the user has finished editing a list item when in virtual mode.
         The handler is responsible for storing the string passed (unless the
         edit was canceled) in the appropriate place since no data is stored by
         the list view in virtual mode.
       + Added ELV_EditCaption method to use when in virtual mode since
         TListItem.EditCaption can't be used (no TListItems exist in virtual
         mode).
       + Added a little sanity checking to the MoveItem method to make sure the
         indicies passed are valid.
       + ExtColEd.dfm had some properties that weren't valid in older versions
         of Delphi and Builder.
       + Added SaveViewStyle property to SaveSettings property.  This will save
         and restore the value of the ViewStyle property.
3.60:  + Added new property to TdfsEnhListView, NoColumnResize.  Prevents all
         columns from being resized.  There is one small quirk to this, so see
         the top of the Known Issues section above.  Also, Michael Fritz sent me
         code to do nearly the same thing, except it does it on a per column
         basis.  I just wish I'd read through all my old email before I started
         NoColumnsResize, it would have saved me several hours of work.  Anyway,
         if you want to prevent individual columns from resizing, you can use
         the AllowResize property of the ColumnsFormat property of
         TdfsExtListView.  Thanks again to Michael for this.
       + Smart sorting enhanced a bit courtesy of Joachim Marder.  When checking
         for valid numeric values, it will now recognize data like "12 kb" as a
         number value of 12.  It scans for a space and then checks to see if the
         data to the left of that is a number.
       + Smart sorting enhanced also by Holger Dors.  When checking for valid
         numeric values, it will scan for thousandths seperators and remove
         them so that numbers like "1,039" can be recognized.
       + OnSortItems event has been enhanced with new SortAs var parameter.  If
         you want to keep using OnSortItems as you have before, you can simply
         ignore this parameter.  It helps when you find that smart sorting isn't
         quite smart enough.  In the event, you can simply set SortAs to one of
         the values (saString, saNumeric, saDateTime) and then the control will
         do the comparison for you based on what you told it the data should be
         treated as.  Note also that you could do some really strange things
         since OnSortItems is called for each comparison in the sort; i.e. you
         could sort two items as strings, and then two other items in the same
         sort as integers.  I can't think of any useful purpose for that, but
         it sounds really cool and I can't think of any useful purpose for cats
         either, but some people really like them.  :) Oh wait, they're good for
         parking lot speed bumps.  (Sorry, it's really late and I've been
         working on this stuff way to long -- please, you cat lovers out there,
         don't mail bomb me)
       + Fixed old Known Issue of OnMeasureItem event for lvOwnerDrawFixed Style
         not working if the SmallImages property is assigned.  This still
         appears to be a bug in the list view implementation by Microsoft or in
         TCustomListView class in the VCL.  Fortunately, I found a way to work
         around the problem.
       + Removed BackgroundImage property.  It was broken (scrolling drove it
         nuts), and I've given up on trying to get this to work.
       + Updated the page link for downloading COMCTL32.DLL in the
         "Redistributing COMCTL32.DLL" section above.
       + TCustomExtListView.ApproximateViewRect passed parameters incorrectly
         (Count was in the wrong place).  Should be find now.
       + Added new public method, MoveItem.  Let's you move a list item from
         one index to another.  This will not have an effect on auto sorted
         listviews since they will just resort the data after any change.  Also,
         don't even think about using this with virtual mode.  This code is
         courtesy of Jon Robertson, many thanks to him.
       + There may have been some situations where the list view was recreating
         the window handle when it may not have been valid to do so.
       + Fixed strange column drag/drop problem:  If you drug a column to a new
         position and then double clicked the divider to resize it, it would
         resize both the correct column and the column occupying the position
         where the correct column used to be.
       + Added new property, ColumnSearch.  If enabled, this overrides the
         normal keyboard search of the listview such that it searches the
         sorted column instead of the caption column.  This could be very
         confusing to some users, so you'll definitely want to point it out to
         users if you take advantage of this feature.  This code was sent to me
         by Bas Ovink, many thanks to him.
       + Item checked state and subitem image index was not preserved if the
         window handle was recreated.  This has been fixed.
       + Added OnGetImageIndex event.  It works just like the same one that was
         introduced in Delphi 4's TListView.  See Known Issues section above
         for a note about using it.
       + Added OnGetSubItemImage event to TExtListView for Delphi & C++Builder
         versions 5 and higher.
       + The Items property should now work in VirtualMode for Delphi &
         C++Builder versions 4 and higher.  I tried again to get this to work in
         D2/D3, but simply can't because I don't have direct access (it's
         private to ComCtrls.pas) to some stuff that is required to make it
         work.  So, I just let D4 & up's OwnerData property do the work for me.
         This means you should be able to do things like:
           ShowMessage(AnExtListView.Items[0].Caption);
         and
           ShowMessage(AnExtListView.Selected.Caption);
         However, I've not had a chance to test this beyond rudimentary uses,
         such as the example above.  If you find any problems, let me know ASAP.
3.55:  + It's *really* D5 compatible now.  Small change between the D5 eval
         version and the real, shipping D5 version broke it.
       + Added note for C3 users to Known Issues section above.
3.54:  + My search and replace went a little nuts and some things got renamed 
         that shouldn't have when I changed over the class names.  This caused
         it to not compile in Delphi 2, and to have some really funky 
         identifier names in all versions. Fixed now.
3.53:  + TEnhListView classname changed to TdfsEnhListView, TExtListView 
         changed to TdfsExtListView.
       + Delphi 5 compatibility.
3.52:  + In D4, reordering columns (lvxHeaderDragDrop) would not always refresh
         the items in the listview, so it looked like the items weren't in
         their correct columns until something caused a repaint.  Fixed.
3.51:  + OnVMGetItemInfo event didn't provide enough stuff to allow setting
         the overlay index for items.  I had to modify the event's parameter
         list to allow for this, so you will need to replace any existing
         handlers you have for this event.  To set an overlay index for a
         virtual list view item, you'd do something like this:

       + TdfsExtListView.ReadSettings method had a check for AutoSave in it that
         shouldn't have been there.  That prevented manual loading of settings
         via a ReadSettings call from restoring the column order.  Thanks to
         Simon Page for catching this.
       + Column header images would get all scrambled when reordered
         (lvxHeaderDragDrop ExtendedStyle) when compiled under Delphi 4.  This
         was due to a change in the Delphi 4 TCustomListView component that I
         wasn't aware of.  Huge thanks go to Simon Page (again) for explaining
         what they did in the VCL that broke my component.
       + Added "Known Issue" item (see above) about OnMeasureItem event.
3.50:  + Default drawing didn't quite match real list view drawing, especially
         if gridlines were involved.  Partially related to next item.
       + Changing font didn't cause OnMeasureItem to fire for owner drawn.
       + OverlayIndex property of list items was not honored by default drawing.
         Thanks to Roger Kilchenmann for the code for this.
       + State images were not drawn by default drawing.
       + Updated links in "Redistributing COMCTL32.DLL" section.
       + There were some problems reported with DragMode set to dmAutomatic and
         owner drawn mode.  It all seems to work for me, but I didn't
         specifically fix anything.  Either I got lucky and fixed it by
         "accident", or I'm not understanding the problem.  If you are still
         having a problem like this, please let me know.  NOTE:  "It don't work"
         is not a very helpful problem report.
       + Added BackgroundImage property.  This TBitmap property will be tiled
         to fill the entire listview client area (i.e. not the column headers).
         The only real problem I have found with it is that the text flickers
         a lot when resizing columns, but there doesn't seem to be anything
         I can do about it.  Probably the inherent slowness of paint with a
         bitmap brush.  Dunno.
         Also, note that this property is introduced in TdfsEnhListView, not
         TdfsExtListView.  This feature does not require the updated COMCTL32.DLL.
         I have never been able to get the listview API functions for doing a
         background image to work.  This solution takes a different approach
         (suggested by Arno Pieterse), and should work for any version of
         COMCTL32.DLL.
3.16:  + Many people have been asking me how to set and/or clear an item's state
         in a virtual mode list view since there are no TListItems to fool with.
         I have added a new method, ELV_SetItemState to make this easier.  Pass
         it the index of the item (zero based, -1 for all items), the states
         you want to change, and a boolean indicating whether to set or clear
         the states.  So, if you wanted to select every item in the listview:

3.15:  + Smart sorting would incorrectly flag negative numbers as dates in
         regions where a "-" is used as the date seperator.  Changed so that
         two sperator characters must be found before it is considered a date.
3.14:  + Column sizes were not saved if the user double clicked on the header
         dividers to resize them.
3.13:  + FullDrag property was incorrectly published under D4.  This property is
         the equivalent of lvxHeaderDragDrop in the TdfsExtListView ExtendedStyles
         property.  That should be used instead, and it should not exist at all
         in TdfsEnhListView since it requires the updated ComCtl32.DLL.
       + Added TCustomExtListView class for TdfsExtListView to descend from.  Same
         reasoning as TCustomEnhListView class, and I should have done this one
         when I did that one.  Lazy programmer...
       + Cleaned up the demos some.  Some of the component had changed over
         time, and they had to be tweaked a bit before they stopped complaining.
         Note that TestVM only works with Delphi 3 and up because it uses
         TSplitter.  You can probably remove these and get it to work in D2 
         since they aren't critical to the demo.
3.12:  + Published new properties for Delphi 4 component where it made sense.
         For example, the new Anchors, Constraints, and DragKind properties
         are now available (under D4), but Checkboxes and OwnerDraw are not
         since they are implemented another way already in my component.
       + Added note about default owner drawing and virtual mode to the Known
         Issues section above.
       + HoverTime property has been changed back to a Longint type (was DWORD).
         Delphi 4 has some problems here, apparently.  First, it seems that
         the Object Inspector will allow only a longint range to be entered for
         a double word type (Longword, Cardinal or DWORD).  Worse, the very
         popular RX Lib freeware component package installs a property editor
         for the cardinal type (which also gets the DWORD type) that won't let
         you enter values in D4; it just keeps giving an error message about
         the value needing to be between -1 and 0.  For these reasons, I have
         switched the type of HoverTime back to a Longint.
       + Two new methods added; ReadSettings and WriteSettings.  Several people
         asked for a way to store and load settings that was independant of the
         current SaveSettings.AutoSave value.  StoreSettings and LoadSettings
         only worked if AutoSave was TRUE.  Now these methods simply test
         AutoSave and then call ReadSettings/WriteSettings.  If you want to
         read or write the stuff yourself independant of AutoSave, you can call
         ReadSettings/WriteSettings.
       + Under some odd circumstances, you could get the component to call
         RecreateWnd while it was inside of CreateWnd.  If you know much about
         the VCL, you know that this is a very Bad Thing (tm).  It would cause
         nasty exceptions.  I believe I have worked around it, but if you notice
         any odd behavior please let me know immediately.
       + OnDrawSubItem event never fired for lvxOwnerDrawFixed Style listviews
         that were in VirtualMode.  Fixed.
3.11:  + If column sizes were saved but some column widths were missing, the
         missing column sizes would be rediculously small.  They now default
         to the design-time size.
3.10:  + The CheckDLLVersion function in the ExtListView.pas unit had a nasty
         bug in it.  This would cause false EELVOldComCtl exceptions to be
         raised when a TdfsExtListView's RequireComCtlUpdate property was set.

3.09:  + Cleaned up some compiler hints under Delphi 4 that I missed last time.
       + Fixed some default owner-drawing bugs that didn't look quite like a
         normal list view.  Mostly had to do with small image list.  Many
         thanks to Norbert Adamko <norris@frdsa.utc.sk> for fixing these.
       + LastColumnClicked was published in TdfsExtListView, but should have only
         been made public.  Fixed.
       + SaveSettings property has new sub-property, SaveCurrentSort.  This will
         save the current sorted column index and direction and restore it on
         next execution.
3.08:  + Change OnMeasureItem event to use UINT type parameter, and underlying
         methods as well (MeasureItem) for Delphi 4 compatibility.  This will
         break your existing OnMeasureItem event handlers.  Just copy all the
         event handler code to the clipboard, remove the handler from the
         component entirely, re-add the handler, paste your code back into it.
       + Other changes for Delphi 4 compatitibility that should affect nothing
         externally to the component.
       + New public array property, CurrentColumnWidth.  Under everything but
         Delphi 4, this evaluates to ActualColumn[Index].Width.  Under Delphi 4,
         column widths are not updated during a header resize, so it broke a lot
         of code.  This is used to fix it.  It bypasses the TListColumn.Width
         call and goes directly to the API, which does know about new widths
         during header resize.
3.07:  + Fixed stupid bug that caused sort arrows to show up in all columns
         of TdfsExtListView's that I introduced in v3.06.  Note to self: Check
         EVERYTHING, no matter how trivial the change seems.....
3.06:  + Sort arrows did not work well when sorting was done by OnSortItems
         event instead of AutoColumnSort property.
       + Resort call would not work inside BeginUpdate/EndUpdate unless
         AutoResort were TRUE.  Thanks to  Norbert ADAMKO <norris@frdsa.utc.sk>
         for fixing this.
       + If an ExtListView had items in it and you switched to virtual mode and
         then back out, you would get AV's.  Fixed.
3.05:  + Sort arrows did not respond to system color changes, so they were
         really ugly if you change the 3D Objects system color.
3.04:  + Sort arrows always showed up if ShowSortArrows was TRUE.  This was a
         bug if AutoColumnSort was set to acsNoSort.  Fixed.
       + Added new ResizeColumns public method.
       + Added note about COMMCTRL unit usage in "Notes & Credits" section (see
         above).
3.03:  + Added Version property.
       + There were still a bunch of property write methods that assumed the
         component had a valid window handle (or tried to create one if it did
         not).  That wasn't really causing any problems when using the
         component, but it was causing fits for people who were trying to
         create a descendant from it under certain circumstances.
3.02:  + Fixed problem where TdfsExtListView stayed in the change list of
         SmallImages property when value changed.  Thanks to CWard
         (CWard@lombardrisk.com) for finding and fixing it.
3.01:  + TEnhLVSaveSettings constructor was not calling its inherited
         constructor.  That's probably why I had some many fits with AutoSaving
         during the 3.00 beta cycle.... Duh.
       + Help file!
3.00:  + The changes from v2.04 are too numerous to mention.
2.04:  + TLVColumnEx record had two members declared in the wrong order.  Thanks
         to Remi Sellem for catching this.
       + The COMCTL32.H did not include a macro for setting an item's checked
         state, only for getting it.  I have figured one out, and now the
         IsChecked property is read/write not read-only.
2.03:  + Reworked the sorting routines to work with bigger numbers and to make
         it a little smarter at detecting valid numbers.  Thanks for much of
         this to Rod Cullison (RCullis@worldnet.att.net).  Also added basic date
         sorting capabilities.
2.02:  + Changed property AutoColumnSort to have three different states
         (acsNoSort, acsSort, acsSortToggle). New one toggles sort order between

         allow the list view columns to be automatically sorted when the user
