Using Content Ratings
You can configure your Web server's content rating features to
embed descriptive labels in your Web page's HTTP headers. Some Web
browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 3.0 or
later, can detect these content labels and help users to identify
potentially objectionable Web content. Your Web server's default
Platform for Internet Content Selection (PICS) based rating system
uses a system developed by the Recreational Software Advisory
Council (RSAC), which rates content according to levels of
violence, nudity, sex, and offensive language. Before setting your
Web content ratings, you should fill out a RSAC questionnaire to
obtain the recommended content ratings for your particular Web
content.
To have your content rated
- In the IIS snap-in, select a Web
site, directory, or file and open its property sheets.
- Click the HTTP Headers tab, then under Content
Ratings, click Edit Ratings.
- In the Rating Service property sheet, under RSAC
Registration, click Ratings Questionnaire. Follow the
instructions provided by RSAC.
- Click OK.
To set content ratings
- In the IIS snap-in, select a Web
site, directory, or file and open its property sheets.
- Click the HTTP Headers tab, then under Content
Ratings, click Edit Ratings.
- In the Ratings property sheet, select the Enable
Ratings for this resource check box.
- In the Category box, click a ratings category. Use the
rating slider to set the level of potentially objectionable
material for the category. Each setting displays a description of
the rating level.
- Under Email name of person rating this content, type the
email name of person who rated the content and then select the
Expire On list and choose a ratings expiration date from the
calendar.
- Click OK.
