--=Greetings==-

Thank you for downloading LiveChat v2.5 This document includes everything you need to know to get LiveChat working on your site.

Please note that; Limited support is offered. If you have comments, questions, concerns, or just need help. Send them to; LiveChat@mail.happytech.net

--=Terms of Use=--

LiveChat v2.5 is completely free, and may be distributed on your site, via disks, email, however you like. Print-outs (Just kidding) Provided that you distribute it in its original package. (Zip File - LiveChat25.zip)

In addition you may edit, change, or customize this application as you see fit, as long as you credit happytech.net. Preferrably with a link to http://www.happytech.net somewhere within the application. I don't plan to ever market this application, but rather use it to attract visitors to www.happytech.net. This motivates me into creating other cool stuff. And I'll gladly return the favor by linking to your site if you request.

Enough of the blabber, on to the application

--=Installing=--

Everything operates within the same folder, so unzip all the files to any directory on your server. I suggest creating a folder called LiveChat, and zipping all the files there. Make sure the directory is enabled to execute scripts.

--=File List=--

The following files should had been packed with LiveChat25.zip;
---------------------------------------------------------------
bottomskin.inc - Include file for changing skin parameters for bottom frame.

clear.asp - Used to clear all variables, resetting the application

default.asp - Main shell for all three frames. Also used to request a nickname. (Be careful editing this file, especially if your using Frontpage98)

display.asp - Main Display window, used to see what everyone is typing.

global.asa - (Everyone knows what this is, you should not need to edit this. Unless you know what your doing, and want to increase the messages)

logoff.asp - ASP document which handles loggin the user off.

message.asp - The frame which you type in the message.

notes.asp - I made this an include file, as I got tired of FrontPage98 eating my default.asp file. Simply type in comments, messages, etc. into this file and it will be included on the page where people enter their nicknames at.

SideBar.asp - The side panel which shows who is on, and how many people are on.
sideskin.inc - Include file for changing skin parameters for side frame.

snooper.asp - I like this tool. It lets me keep an eye on the chatroom, as well as how many people are in. Its great for monitoring. You may not want to make this available to the public.

STARTHere.asp - Example page on how I suggest opening LiveChat. Remember LiveChat is designed to work in a 600x350 size window. Reference this page on creating links from your pages. Also has some minor documentation.

ReadMeFirst.txt - LiveChat v2.5 documentation. (What your reading now)

First let me say; If you have made modifications, which you think are pretty nifty I would be interested in seeing/implementing your modifications. Of course you will receive credit, and be included into the Terms Of Use section. Just send them along to LiveChat@mail.happytech.net You may also want to challenge yourself to complete one of the items on the wishlist. Which is rapidly growing.

====SKIN NOTES===

The Following files all work with Skins;

message.asp
bottomskin.inc
sideskin.inc

I plan to work on simplifying customizing your own skins. For now, read the comments in these files to ensure you change everything needed for adding skins. The next major release will read dynamicaly from a database, so it'll be much easier.

As a side note in the Chat Room, when you want to change a skin do the following;

1. Select the skin you want from the drop-down.
2. Push the [Change Skin] button.
3. The effect will take effect the next message you post.
